Introduction Larry Clark (b. 1943, Tulsa, Oklahoma) is one of the most controversial and influential photographers of the late twentieth century. His work is inseparable from his life: an unfiltered, deeply personal documentation of youth culture, addiction and sexuality in America. Clark began photographing as a teenager, influenced by his mother, who ran a portrait studio. But instead of following a traditional path, he turned his camera toward his own environment — documenting his friends, his drug use and the world he inhabited.
