Dante Sisofo – Street Photography as Visual Diary
Dante Sisofo is a Philadelphia-born street photographer whose lens is trained on everyday human moments, light, and rhythm. A graduate of Maryland Institute College of Art, Sisofo’s work spans from city streets to international scenes in Jerusalem, Zambia, and Mumbai—infusing his images with empathy, awareness, and quiet energy. His practice is deeply personal, rooted in spontaneity, grounded in presence, and guided by the belief that photography is an act of exploration, connection, and storytelling.

Film & Technique
While primarily digital, Sisofo began with black-and-white film, mastering exposure, framing, and composition early on. A formative experience with his great uncle—using a 35 mm Leica M3 and 35mm Summaron lens—sparked his deep interest in capturing decisive moments and juxtaposing people and their environments.
Style & Vision
Sisofo describes street photography as being a flâneur, walking slowly, observant, and participating in the world. He embraces speed, serendipity, and presence, using compact tools to capture joy, light, and narrative in brief, unscripted interactions.
He posits that beauty emerges from chaos—the street is alive, unpredictable, and teeming with stories waiting to be found. He champions simplicity: shoot fast, edit quick, and stay connected to the moment—and doesn’t let gear become a distraction.
